To Embrace Is To Empower
Embracing the belly for an empowering pregnancy
Week 6 feels different this time around, the fourth time around to be exact. My husband and I just found out we are pregnant with baby number four, and we are embracing every single moment, including the bump!
Four babies to share the joy of life with.
We are so excited that we chose to embrace the first trimester rather than keep it secret. We told family and close friends, some already had figured it out (curtesy of baby bump, bumpin'), others were surprised. Co-workers are some of my favorite people to tell. They are your village! They get you through some tough days. They are there as baby grows. They are your resource team. They are your adult time.
Today is the start of a very fun adventure! It's shopping day for me. Every time we have found out we are pregnant, there are a few key items I make sure to snag ASAP. Check out some of my must-have items to start the journey with!
- Prenatal vitamins + DHA: Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid that plays a crucial role in the development of the fetal brain and eyes. DHA contributes to the brain's structural fats as it rapidly grows. DHA also supports the development of the retinal tissue of the eye aiding in vision.
- Maternity clothes: I always grab a few fresh items. Trust me momma, there will be a day that you stand in your closet and have no idea what to wear because baby doesn't fit into your favorite pair of jeans and work attire anymore. Momma, buy the clothes; tops, bottoms, tanks and bras. This sounds like a lot, BUT buy basics and layer pieces so one shirt makes multiple outfits. You have a marathon to run and you may as well be comfortable doing so!
- Belly Cream: I love a good natural product. Think of it this way momma, if you wouldn't put it on your newborn baby's skin, you shouldn't put it on your belly holding baby.
Momma, if you're reading this, "breathe, you've got this, embrace it!" But also momma, if you have some new tricks for this old dog, send me an email, I'd love to hear more!
